...About Praxis...

Praxis was set up in 1999 in Dublin, Ireland with assistance from the Dublin City Enterprise Board and the KWCD centre in Crumlin, Dublin. Our primary goal on set-up was to secure international distribution and promotion for small independent musical bands and record labels in Ireland. We have since expanded our goals to include a variety of services to international bands, record labels, publishers and distributors. We have also introduced services to those outside the music industry with the recently arrived web services.

The majority of work we receive is in the form of developing and/or implementing promotional plans for independent music businesses. This includes designing “One Sheets”, catalogues, mail outs and fax sheets. We also advice on, and organise, the physical mailing of promotional materials to radio stations, fanzines, magazines, e-zines, distributors and more. Our strengths include our flexibility and diversification to bring a uniqueness and freshness to a particular plan while still offering a quality service at a low price.

We also attempt distribution for selected releases. We have recently re-structured our methods of distribution to increase sales as we continually better the quality of service. Other distribution services include order forwarding and shipping, manufacturing and some account management.

A very new introduction to Praxis is the music mail order. We decided to introduce it as we can no longer take on all the submissions we would like for distribution, but would still like to offer something to those we have to turn down. In most cases we have found the reasons we cannot take a release on for distribution is, not because the release is not good enough, but because we have committed ourselves to other projects at that time. So with the mail order, at least we can offer a method of selling their releases to those we cannot help with distribution.

Our goal for this new aspect of the project is to build up a good catalogue of music that offers something a bit different to other music mail orders that, we feel, are simply littered with releases from the larger distributors and labels. We have approached some reviewers from magazines and ezines to provide critical reviews and recommendations for customers and we are excited by the potential in this area. Something to look forward to in 2004.

As a very flexible and adaptable business we also offer other services to music projects that includes graphic design, manufacturing, website design and more.

The web services first appeared in late 2002 and we have gradually increased the amount of services we offer. We introduced the services simply because we can offer great services at fantastic prices and there is very much an international need for the services we offer. The decision to expand into this area was also aided by our own bad experiences in trying to find a good value service to design/manage our own website.

The web services are the fastest growing aspect of Praxis. Simply put, we design and promote websites as well as providing hosting, domain registration, organise email addresses and more. New services include site management and the site “makeovers”.

We now incorporate many of the web services into our music promotion activities.
